    HardDrive knocking

I've marked the bad blocks through scan disk and still intermittenly I get serious hard drive knocking - sounds more like a bump car than a hard drive...rememdies?

...knock knock knocking on Heven's door....
...last time I had that I barely managed to get most of my files off it...lost about 100 MP3's....sounds to me like it's dying fast.
...I'd slave a new drive to it and copy while you still can...good luck!!

    Good news is...

It's empty - newsly partioned and formatted.

I got all my files off successfully.

Didn't lose a thing. - Expect the drive maybe...

    Thanks...

...you could use it for things that don't matter...even for a toy system...may last, may not...
    ...glad you got all files...

When it knock, knocks, did you ask who's there?

Or, try a tank of high-octane electricity.

    Sorry, couldn't stop myself.

Glad you didn't lose your stuff.

The next drive that goes bad on me I'll open up and make wind chimes out of the platters (If it's not still under warranty, that is).

The hard drive is definitely in its death throes. Run it and you can get a baby rattle out of it.
