    Lightbulb Office 2000 for free

    Well, not exactly M$ Office...

I just want to remind everyone that Star Office 5.1, a full-featured office suite that runs on Windows as well as Linux is still available for free download and time is running out to order the PROMO CDROM for $9.95 -they say 2 more weeks on the PROMO.

I have used StarOffice on its Linux Version and it is quite good. Of course it has the common non-MS Office suites limitations, like some missing fonts that are common on MS-Office and unable to load password protected files.

But anything from that this Office Suite is something to look at.

I've downloaded Star Office as a recommendation from a buddy of mine several months back and have been very impressed by it and it is even stable! wow ... if only "other" software companies could catch on to making stable software ... then I'd not feel so silly paying for it. hehehehe

    Thumbs up

I have had Star office for sevarl months and it works great. You can password protect files. I have some things password protected like my journals. I can't think of how to do it right now. It does crash once and a while, well it did on the 486. It has yet to do so on the k6 3 400

I just checked and when you choose to save as on the bottem left side of the popup window there is an option to password protect. Just check the box and it will ask for a password. This is in windows I am not sure about linux though.
