ATA100 Intel BX440 chipset NEED HELP

I have an ABIT BX6rev2 mobo with Intel 440BX chipset. Celeron 300a at 450Mhz, 256M micron sdram, etc.
I'm adding an IBM Deskstar 75GXP 45G ATA100 hard drive.
Will the 440BX chipset on my mobo support ATA100?
I can't get an answer from ABIT and Intel's information seems contradictory.
I'm guessing I'll need an ATA100 controller card but if the 440BX chipset won't support ATA100 then what's the point?
    Help please.

Quick answer: no your board doesn't support ata100 but if you add a controller card it
will,I can get back to you with details
    later.

Thanks, I'll be looking for your details.
Can you recommend a controller? Sounds like the Promise Ultra100 has its own share of problems.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again.

Promise-brand controllers are the only PCI IDE controller cards that I use anymore. The Promise Ultra100 with the latest drivers offers excellent performance and stability. In my opinion, the IDE cards to avoid are anything with a HighPoint chipset. These have been plauged with problems ever since introduction. The only HighPoint chipsets I could actually recommend are of the IDE RAID variety.

    Good Luck,

Thanks to both of you for your help and advice.
It was things I've been seeing about the Ultra100 and Award BIOS problems, not seeing hard drives, having to repartition, reformat and reload OS that turned me off. That's the last thing I want to have to do.
    Thanks again RobRich and Bsdboy
