Possible it's a W2K problem. Also possible it's a physical problem. Might try some spray electronic cleaner (like QD Electronic Cleaner) & spray underneath both Ctl keys while tapping continuously.

Windows 2000 Keyboard Problem
having a problem with my keyboard.
dell optiplex gx1 pIII 450 128MB Ram
5GB C drive 1 GB pagefile partition
running windows 2000 Pro
my problem is that i will be working doing my normal stuff on my computer. when out of the blue, the computer thinks the CONTROL button is pressed down. so anything i try to do, the computer thinks the control key is being pressed. i know that the keyboard is fine. i had previously had windows 98 on the machine and there were no problems. i did a fresh install.
the only way to fix this is to reboot.
any ideas?
thanks

Is it a ps/2 keyboard? I've had three ps/2 keyboards freak out in the last two weeks. How do you know the keyboard is fine? Have you tried another one? I had one that freaked and put another and freaked the same way. Ended up using a USB keyboard that solved all problems. Let us know what's happening. <edit> spelling <edit>
