    Unhappy disk i/o error

    system compaq deskpro xl 590 ,p90,2.1 samsung,.5compaq scsi hdd,win95c problem :system unused for a month worked fine when last used. now on bootup goes through post and stops on disk i/o error replace disk when no disk is in the a drive, checked all cable connections. all sugestions apreciated. barry

    May be a floppy problem. Diagnose by going into the BIOS and changing boot sequence to c: drive first (so it don't go looking for a flaky floppy). Reboot.

    If it works, try accessing your floppy, it most likely will fail. If boot occurs and floppy don't work, check cables and power and even swapping with functional floopy.
