new mobo, blank monitor???
ok, here's the problem. i turn on the power for the computer and it lights up and everyhing, but when i turn my monitor on, it goes directly into sleep mode after a couple seconds, so i'm getting no display...any ideas?

Try turning the power management features off in Windows and if you still get the problem turn them off in the BIOS too.

i cant even get to windows or the bios setup cause i cant see anything

I dont know if you already have but since this is a new mobo, just go throught the basic. Check all your setting (jumpers if any) take the ram out and put it back in chen the video card, etc.

ok got the monitor working (i would tell you what i did wrong but god **** it's embarrassing!). however, now the HD and cd rom arent working...they both have power cause the lights come on, but when i start up and the computer asks for a book disk (a cd), i cant open the cd rom drive...i dont know if it's a problem with the drive or the board...

Well then use your Windows floppy boot disk.

got the cd rom and hd working, and it loads windows and everthing, but when the icons and desktop should pop up, it's a blank screen....it'll run in safe mode, but not in normal mode, and this all happened after i put my modem in. could my modem cause this?

oookay, new problem...now when i bott up it says "ivalid system disk", and there arent any disks in any of the drives, whats up with that? i put my windows 98 cd in there and it still says the same thing, and i cant get rid of it!!! AHHHHHHH!!! this is getting
annoying!!!
