Need Help With A Maxtor 20 Gig

I currently have a Dell 800 mhz computer with a 20 gb hard drive installed. I bought another hard drive, a Maxtor 20 GB. I installed it into the tower but cannot get the computer to detect its presence. Where can the "auto-detect" option be found in the system BIOS?

Mine is in standard cmos setup menu. Go to the slave, or whatever yours is setup to be and highlight it, pg up or down til auto appears. Are the jumpers on the drives set proper for what the setup will be?
