Yeah, this is sad news. But also a little suspicious, IMO. When I couldn't get through to TechIMO, I just waited a few days then tried again. Then again. And eventually realized, ****, they're down for good. So I started poking about the net to see if I could find out why. And in doing so I ran into this:

    Techimo.com Database 2017 | 444k Mail:Pass | HASHED

at this website: Cracking Pro | Best Cracking Forum

So it looks to me like they were hacked, and the bad guys got their database, with all of our info. And notice that was posted back in August. I don't remember getting an email from TechIMO warning me that my info was possibly stolen by hackers.

Does anyone know anything about this? RR? Could this possibly be the REAL reason why TechIMO was shut down?

Wow Outie, I never heard anything. I'll ask Robert about it.

But the first day it was down I contacted Robert and he told me Scott pulled the plug because it was losing money. I believed he just pulled the plug without giving anyone notice because he didn't care about anyone there. It was just business, we didn't pay the rent.

Stumbled upon some very old IRC logs and in a fit of nostalgia googled TIMO. Sad to see it has died and also that this place is pretty quiet too. So much time spent back then in rooms and forums, think I even bought the t-shirt at one point. Even reviving this account as reading the spec of the rig I had back then brings back memories. Good to see some recognisable faces still about but sad to see it all go. Such is the cycle of things I suppose.

Just stopped in and saw this. It's never fun to see a community die online. I miss the give-and-take there and here too. I suppose that it's partially my fault since I moved to NJ and stopped participating, but it seems that people are either just not building PCs anymore or Google has so much data that folks can just skip the formalities and get what they need from existing threads.

LOL! I was banned from TechIMO so many times. Glad it's bitten the bullet.

What's your former name? Let's see if we can ban you here too.

He was active when TIMO dropped off the net. This is one of the few negative points of not using facebook, for me.
