setup share folder for simultaneous access homegroup
Hello
I am trying to create a home group on windows 10 with a pdf in the share folder with 10 users connecting to this folder to view only the pdf simultaneously at the same time. They need to be able to browse though the pdf at the same time but not modify/copy the pdf to their local computer.
Do you think it will work in this setup or will I need to create 10 folders and copying the pdf in those folders.
any suggestion please
thanks

As 10 is the limit, that one folder is valid.
Just be sure to set the permissions to read only.

In fact there will be 16 users who need access to this pdf file.
what do you mean by "10 is the limit" ?
can you please elaborate in more details?
you mean setting up only one folder with only one pdf for 16 users to access this file simultaneously?

Win 10 can accommodate 20 concurrent connections. That was increased to 20.
So one folder is needed for your 16 to access at the same time.
This may allow more than 20. Never tried it.

R-click the pdf and select properties. Note the attributes at the bottom. Select read only. Should take care of that problem.

My main concern is whether all 16 users will be able to manipulate the file at the same time . let say some reading 2 and at the same time other page6
so on and so forth . Do you think I have messed up my understanding of the osi model ?

Should be fine, because the whole file will copy to each requesting computer for reading.

thanks I will implement this today .
