better replacing the sata-esata-cables altogether after cleaning the contacts.

90% is what I use, worth the added expense.

    Done that with the ps-plug.

    I have the pci-sata/Ide-card-option.
eighter connecting sata-sata = external drive to pc
or sata-HDD = External drive to internal sata-hdd.
    is that right finding?

I would be tempted to use it to clone, the heck with TI.

Yes , I would sure try to use it as a external hdd.

I tried cloning with the docking station trough quick sata-esata-slot. Systempartion-backup is not problem.
maybe best would be replacing cables incl. docking-station. if its working then i could later-when new station is defective try out the old one.
if cable is working with bootdrive then it must be totally ok right? Maybe better only replacing esata-cable first. and check internal sata-cable.

What i wanted to know is: Am i right with my two options using the internal sata.-slot(s).
    a) connecting Mobo-slot with pci-card-sata-slot or
    b)internal second sata-drive connected with pci-card-sata-slot

I have 6 SATA connectors on the motherboard. In slot 5 I have a 18 inch cable which I use to jump in hdds and a power extension for powering esternal hdds.

The on board would be faster than the PCI card. But I would "b)internal second sata-drive connected with pci-card-sata-slot"

    a) SLOW mobo-SLOT connected with PCI-card for esata-data-backup or cloning or for permanent data-exchange.
    b) internal second data-drive connected with pci-card for backup data from this drive only incl. cloning.

    2 x Sata 3gb/s Raid 0, 1, JBOD , second one connected to esata-internal slot.
    2x Sata 1.5gb/s same Raid
So what do you think? In my case better using second quick slot for second data-drive and using PC-card slow connector to have esata-access to external backup-drive?
For my later win7-system with SSDs. 256 + 256 first then replacing it by a 500gb and moving the second 256 to the slow slot?
maybe better using second 256 on quick slot for swapfile right from the start and get 500gb immediately. 1tb is 330 chf 500 gb costing less than 160. or maybe start with two 256, later adding 1TB on slow slot, moving data from 256 to 1tb and using 256 as swapdrive?
I have also raid-options! see above on both slot-sets. maybe raid is better than seperating swapfile. max. 16gb ram on Asrock alive-dual esata 2, its a sata-ide-MOBO-Very stable.

Now that looks good. Did not realize you were using RAID also.

256 SSD for C drive, 60 SSD for swap, although the SSDs are fast enough I do not think this is needed, and a ! TB for DATA. I do not think RAID will really speed things up much either.

    No raid used ever.
    Near future in 1 day
    1. win7-256 System/programs, old 2TB-HDD-backup on second quick slot.(instead of default temporary esata external drive in docking-station for backups).
later exchange 2TB hdd by first 500gb SSD. adding another second 500gb to slow slot 1. second slow slot slot used for PCI-sata-card for esata external HDD in docking station.
    Good plan?
maybe an idea testing 120gb for swapping. they are cheap 40-50 chf. data-drive on slow slot1 then and external esata through pci-card through slow slot 2?

60 or 120 for swap is a good idea.

Plan overall, is what I would do too.

Are these two options correct for the empty slow SATA-slots?

    a) connecting Mobo-slot with pci-card-sata-slot or
    b)internal second sata-drive connected with pci-card-sata-slot
    Thanks a lot
NB: 540 gb SSD costs 120 chf. 1TB 300 chf
