    Ultimate Defrag instead of defraggler?

    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...windows-defrag
my systemdrive on winxp is defragged, only pagefile needs to be defragged.
pagedefrag doesnt do anything also not uninstalling it.
last time i had to remove it.
at an earlier time it was one piece now in THREE pieces. 5gb sized.
leaving it defragged? since there are some files in its ways to allow lining up in one piece.
Or using ultimate defrag? better backing up beforehand!

You can use boot time defrag with Defraggler to defrag the pagefile.

I don't see why you'd want to pay for Ultimate Defrag.

It would be much easier to set the page file to zero, defrag, and then create a new static pagefile (Set min and max to the same size). Way faster than whatever Ultimate Defrag is doing, and FREE.

Yes you are right above all when seeing how long it actually wants to run.
Did that but pagefile still defragmented. want to give UD a chance to improve.

What do you mean the pagefile still defragmented?

If you do what I say, you'll get one continuous pagefile. Whatever. It's your time.

Ultimate defraggler is THE REAL defraggler in combination with defraggler.
    1. removed pagefile.
    2. ran defraggler
    3. ran Ultimatedefraggler again. was finished after 8 hours or 12 depending when started counting. was not awake when i was finished.
Pagefile now jumped upwards and is in two instead of three parts. once had it in ONE part.
    see here
three-part image will follow incl. ultimate defraggler before and after. with/without pagefile.
    DEFRAGGLER AFTER DEFRAGGLER AND ULTIMATEDEFRAG.jpg

When looking again in UltimateDefraggler it will look like this. one cannot see position of pagefile.
Dont know how i can show all colors again without starting defragmentation, maybe simulation.

Win 7 and up, just use the native defrag program. And with Win 10, it will switch to Trim for SSD's.

ONLY use one defragger, each one has different parameters and can cause huge problems down the line for you.

    Native= built-in?
yes i would never had tried defraggler on win7-ssds. if then only on a backup-drive.
without the combination of UD an defraggler i would probably never have reached the two-part-pagefile-situation. we will see next time when i will use defraggler exclusively again.

As I said before, you'd need to set a STATIC pagefile to prevent fragmentation. If you use a dynamic or system-managed pagefile, it will grow and change. That's what causes the fragmentation.

Why are you messing with the pagefile in the first place? Are you having performance issues? Most of the files swapped in/out of the pagefile are pretty small, so even a split pagefile shouldn't cause major problems. If you are hitting the pagefile a lot, then the real issue is that you don't have enough RAM.
