Can you get to a boot screen on that system?

use your <pause> key to stop the boot right after the RAM check and write down the number at the bottom left of the screen that look something like this

    11/23/85 - i430vx - 2apbfc45 - 00

Give us that and we might be able to help you identify the board

    On bottom of screen displays:

    American Megatrends
    41-p400-001437-00101111-101094-486AVIP-H

This computer board could be not sure a
    amptron-dx9700,fugutech1919,solar m921, or
a elpina486/586 v.i.p. It does say on the
back elpina 2743A, 8-96. But still cannot
    find info/manual about this computer.

I'm pretty sure I have the same board and am looking for a BIOS update, same BIOS number, I have a Manual for my board. E-mail me your address and I can drop a copy in the mail. If you find the BIOS let me know.

    Thanks,
    Bruce

I found on a few systems that they want
you to use a bios circuit board for the
updates, which i still think theres some
softwear out there for the update.
Well continue to look more for y2k bios
    upgrading.

AMI BIOS OEM ID 001437 is PC-Chips.

Visit http://www.ping.be/bios, go to BIOS Upgrades -> P -> PC-Chips, and use the Lottery to narrow down what you have there.

All the other potential board names and vendors you listed are just PC-Chips resellers.

Note that in the old days, board designs lived very long, and major reworks were often made without changing the model name or number. So boards that go under the same name might look surprisingly different (and use different BIOSes too). PC-Chips keeps track of those changes by writing a revision # onto the board near the keyboard connector.

    Regards, Peter

OK,I will get them a look and see what they
    have.

    Update! Fast page mode memory
Just bought two 16mb,edo,72-pin simm chips
to make up 32k memory. By memory master
complete upgrade kit. Well I unplugged the
power cord installed both on bottom two
rows for simms and left the top two emtry.
When I powerup it displays 32304kb then
starts win95 goes back to 256 kb cache 133
clock speed show win95 screen and then it
goes to 3 safe mode shows win95 screen then
himem test extended memory. Now it pops
a black screen saying you can safely turn
off your system/if you restart hit ctrl+
alt+del. it never loads win95 or safe mode?
Strange..BUT if I put in the startup disk
in drive A:> and type C: it still shows me
that windows folder directorys are still
there. So whats going on and how make
    windows run again. Thanks.
