Intel CPUs: Xeon E5 vs. Core i7

    Very interesting study:

the question remains: are 128gb possible with skylake?
we have a discussion in FB panoramic photographers-group.
maybe if limit is 64gb then ssd-raid or ssd/hdd-raid is suitable for large panoramas-or 3dstereo-video-works.

Benchmarks look good, but how will it handle your programs?

in my opinion raid and ramdisk is the solution when cheaper SSD are available. one does not want to invest into more expensive ones.
yes the needed programs must be tested. e.g. sigma-foveon-people are complaining slow software from them. and adobe does not want to support their exotic format. btw: canon wanted to buy sigma. yamaki-family-owned sigma could resist.

Sigma will probably want funds for 10 generations.
