    Geforce 610 trouble

I had a Geforce 8600 GT graphics card that went belly up. Bought a Geforce 610 GT 1G. Ad said suppose to work with win XP and had a driver for it saying WinXP. How ever it gives me Blue screen of death upon boot as it starts to go into windows. I am using it now in VGA mode but is quite slow. I have tried several drivers from 307, 340, 344 to name a few. I use it mostly for editing photos and videos. Any ideas what driver I could use or what the problem is?
    Thank you, Roger

What is the exact make/model of the card? 610GT is just the chipset.

Just for example, the Asus site lists 3 driver sets for their 610GT. Version 327.23, 301.42, 296.39. I'd probably go with the 301.42 or 296.39.

Are you sure the BSOD is caused by the video card? Did you look at the Event Viewer logs and minidumps?

Blue screen view says nv_disp in loop. Shut down so as not to damage computer. I dual boot so I copied nv_disp that was used by the 8600 GT and it worked with grainy display. So I am going to try some older drivers like the one you mentioned.

Ok. That definitely sounds like a video driver problem.

You still didn't give us the make/model of the video card. Most of the time, the generic Nvidia drivers will work, but it doesn't hurt to stick with the manufacturer's downloads if you are having issues.

I tried some generic drivers. Still didn't work so I've contacted seller to send it back.
I wasted a whole day trying to get this to work. I am using a geforce 6200 in the mean time. A little slow but it works good. Thank you for your help.

Come to be reminded by the better half, I returned all 3 of the 610's I tried as they were bad. Got my money back. BAD Cards
