New printer cartdridge(inkjet) rejected

What can be the reasons why inkjet-printer-cartridge(from a refurbisher) will be rejected, beside uncleaned contacts?
btw: we have a chipresetter but have not really have found out how its working despite having an instruction.

Bad out of the box. Run into that 1 time with a printer.

New but cheap 80 usd all in one printer. new cartridge again. still rejected. will now clean.
problem is i dont know how chipresetter is really working step by step.
This happens like i have foreseen. friend not asking me which printer he should buy....

Tell him to return it and get his money back.

Had the same idea but tell this to an very old man who does not ask for advice beforehand.
In my opinion Canon has built-in a refurbished-cartridge-rejector. Will soon know which model.
