Prepairing HDD for cloning
Made a dban and converted the empty drive to a base-drive from dynamic which was default on winxp.
now its unassociated.
Do i have to set a partition and format first before using for cloning?
-
The cloning will take care of it. But you can slave it in do it in disc management.

When drive comes from store i must only make it present right? I will try clonezilla and hope whole drive not only systempartition will be cloned like last time. maybe i was absent.
-
New drive, I have gotten so I do a clean install and set the partition size at that time.
And as I have my programs burned to cd, I install them. But as I have multiple PCs and laptops, time is not that important sometimes.

Its was not about new installation but cloning. how must new drive be prepaired?
-
Cloning will take care of it.

So after DBAN direct cloning, right. the drive i am actually working was the orginal one which had the overlapping-problem but i messed it up completely. must then work from the "copy" to save data from a different clone than i mentioned here.
-
That messed up will clone messed up. I would wipe that drive and start from scratch.

Most probably. i will first revover an older backup. thought also about win7-32-installation. but i have SSD-250gb in mind for that.
