    Enlarging systempartition-defragging beforehand-What strategy?

    Must enlarge systempartition C of a winxp-system.
Very large partitioned D already defragged.
    Systempartition not yet saved/backed up.
    What is the next step?
    Save, defrag or enlarge systempartition?

    btw: defraggging-procedure
earlier when with win2k i was advised to leave swapfile alone, not removing it before defragging. system was running a bit slow when i tried anyway.
I thought this was also true with winxp. but i could succesfully reduce defraction of swapfile from 4 parts into 3 parts.
that would possible explain why i could this time setup the size giving from the system.
discussed also elswhere, i would give a try setting up swapfile in his own drive, even if only a slower sata-slot is empty. have only two 3gb/sec slots, one used for esata. slower two are 1.5 gb/sec only. maybe i could try out a new 120gb or 240 gb ssd which i would like to use later for win7-32.
i am still undecided if i will start with 120 or 240gb. maybe in a second step trying out a double-raid 2x 120gb. and much later a double/double-raid ssd/hdd. maybe overkill on that dualcore with 4gb ram only, or on the opposite a big speed-push. its limited to 8gb-ram. investments in win7-64 and ram and hdds would be quite big.

Tried a few sizes in XP and kept running out hdd, finally, settled on 50 Gb.
Win 7 makes a 100 MB and Win 10 makes a 240MB partition just for your info.

train tips elsewhere worked. defraggler working very quickly. pagefile is one piece. but on other drive 500gb with 15/19gb(without pagefile) left only pagefile cannot be unified. it stay in two pieces. very small an big one 4222/4222 min/max.

Change it to 0 [zero ], or as low a number as possible, reboot and then disable it.
    Bet it reads different now.
