A good night's sleep, followed by an early morning jog often helps.

I have found a documentation-book which i had to consult a long time ago... there is the explenation why the problems occured:
    1. as long as one is using windows xp-design some setting-options are not available because the elements are coming directcly from the luna--style(whatever that means). Classic-design must be used.
    2. playing around with dpi is only needed if one must have a 1:1-ruler-ratio(for grahics people). It will not have no effect for all image-elements.
The instruction is telling how one can directly make changing by clicking on the symbolic preview.

Fontsize of dialogue-field affects not only my login-problem but size of FF-favorites. they are now smaller than menue 9 versus 11. would have liked it bigger. 10 would work and i could see ok--button halfway. they should have programmed the login-window differently.

A few solutions immediately came to mind:

    1. Wear prescription glasses
    2. Use bigger monitor(s)
    3. Sit closer to the monitor(s)
    4. All of the above

    Glasses are good.
    monitor is big 27".
    viewing distance 70cm.
the only problem was dialoge field size. which now is with 10 a compromise. that window/login still partly hidden but not as much as before. one can see the ok-button.
