    16gb-DDR4 already available? price?

Are 16gb DDR4 already available? at what price and where?
DDR4-MOBO have 8 slots to cover up to 128gb ram. Always in pairs? impairs could slow down right?

pls illuminate us about these news.

    To start with ddr4 do i always need pairs? e.g. 2x8 or 2x 16?
impairs only from 3 sticks upwards, right? which it will slow down or not?
yes have found one in switzerland. 301 chf
do i need a pair to start? 602 chf for 32gb is quite heavy.

    http://pcdiy.asus.com/2014/08/asus-c...y-kit-for-x99/
    asus/corsair-cooperation. 16gb sticks coming in 2015.
asus x99 will have 128gb support then. but in specifications they are limiting it to 64mb-wierd.
will ddr4-mobo work with ONE stick or not?
2x8 cost almost the same like 1x16gb. around 300 chf.

Should work with a single stick, just be slower.

    Noticed the price, OUCH!

    Intel-people should know more

I know an intel software-engineer. He should know what is going in 16gb DDR4-chip-production.

I have multiples in my mind. The problem is: on some websites, since only 8gb-ddr4 are available one can see 8-slot MOBOs telling 64gb is max. in reality its 128gb. I think they are holding back DDR4 16mb since there are still too much DDR3 around to be sold at top-price-level or with rabates. Hope i am wrong they are testing ddr4-16gb.

Maximum RAM on 64-bit versions of Windows 7 Home Basic is 8 GB, and on Home Premium it's 16 GB. 64-bit versions of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate can each handle up to 192 GB.

    New consumer 16gb-version

From here-its about asus x99 MBs and 128gb (8x16gb ram). read it in the discussion below.
There are no consumer ( non ECC ) 16GB DIMMS they are ECC based and designed for C series chipsets. We are co working with partner on validating 16GB consumer memory currently and once supported we will release a corresponding UEFI update for our entire range of X99 motherboards.
    -----
from what i know now. 64gb ram DDR4 (8x8)cost almost 1000chf. 32gb about half of that.
to replace these to get 128 at the end would be very expensive.
thats why the industry seems to introduce cheap consumer-versions in 2015.
    ----------------------
Technical data for e.g. Asus Rampage V extreme say: 64gb limit, which seems not really true. in terms of Ram-availabily yes(8x8). cheaper 16gb DDR4 for consumers will come in 2015. In my opinion they are holding them back to force people using existing exquipment. Hope i am wrong. i have patience.

    Be thankful to memory-producers

I have found information about the problem integrating thunderbolt in 2011(ddr3 mainboards).
    maybe really better using 2011v3(ddr4).
I am opting for 2011(ddr3) with 64gb-option(4x16 or 8x8(if available). not easy to get MOBOs here.
    I see a 3dstereo-friend being interested in DDR4-MOBO.
Maybe better asking other friends using DDR3 and dual_raid(SSDx2, 3x3TB). I cannot wait another 6 months to get out of my slow dualcore with all the actual hdd-mess and winxp.
AND: Maybe better not complaining about memory prices. We should be thankful to the producers investing millions for most important tools.

Time to ask questions I think is smart too.
May have to do like I did, spend money to get what I needed.
