Integrating thunderbolt in ddr3(2011)-MOBOs was misleading. I meant integrating the function for thunderbolt-cards. cannot discuss here. it should be a seperate theme when needed.

    DDR4 not that expensive?

    https://geizhals.at/crucial-dimm-16g...-a1134111.html

    pls investigate what this means.
ECC, non-ECC what it matters regarding DDR4-MOBOs.
it has been discussed on asus-site if i dont err, maybe MSI.
They also discussed new consumer 16gb DDR-chips.

I think one must forget DDR4-MOBOs at the moment if money is a big deal.
cheap ECC only work with Xeon-CPUs.
    and 32gb DDR4 cost a fortune- 610 chf.
    http://www.steg-electronics.ch/de/ar...gb-291332.aspx
And these must be replaced later to get 128gb (8x16gb when available).

    DDR4-news?

    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answer...ease-date.html
4 channel ddr4 will be available with Haswell E in Q3 2014 and 2 channel ddr4 will be available with Skylake in late 2015, early 2016. I have no clue when AMD is going to start supporting.

Why 2 channel? will they be cheaper or slower or both?

Registered memory is often more expensive because of the lower number of units sold and additional circuitry required, so it is usually found only in applications where the need for scalability and robustness outweighs the need for a low price – for example, registered memory is usually used in servers.

Does 4 Channel mean only four identical rams are accepted to get best performance? So why 2-channnel?

Seems there are single, dual, triple and quad channel.

    http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/print...hitectures/133

Is the mother board set up for it? The big question.

    64 gb- 4x16gb almost 900 CHF!

    http://www.steg-electronics.ch/de/ar...-18530008.aspx
So for 128 gb 8x16gb one must pay almost 1800 CHF!
At least the MSI X99S Gaming 9 ACK
is officially decleared to support 128gb.
Often we see 64 gb max.
Yes i know new FW could also lead to 128gb.
Maybe if we buy "64GB max" -MOBO now there could be a surprise of no 128gb-support. right or not?

"64GB max" means just that. I have only found 2 motherboards , one needed a BIOS update and the other was found by mistake. And that was a Dell 755.
