New partitions-not primary but extended ones?

Need to fill remaining space with two partitions on my 2tbdrive. some space is already reserved for acronis secure zone.
When trying to execute extended option was greyed out in winxp. Do i not yet understand partitioning?
I was in admin.-account. datenträgerverwaltung. Thanks a lot

I have found an instruction here:
    http://www.informationsarchiv.net/articles/449/
    these should work:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000/de

but i cannot delete-its unassociated. no extended possible.
    a) is acronis secure zone interfering.
    b) my new security settings-observation standards changed.

Acronis Secure Zone which i had set prevented establishing extended partition.
Most probably this special zone must be establish after all partitions are set in the remaining unallocated space.

    SOLVED

After having established extended partition and first logical drive i could also setup acronis secure zone(acronis SZ), afterwards remaining partition.

Can I backup whole partition 960gb(whichwas left over) to an additional 1tb(930gb)-drive? or must it be smaller than 930gb even if not full 960gb?
