Old changed MB(duplicate) cannot hold time-battery new

After falsly exchanging a working old MB by a duplicate of it(thougt CPU-frame was defective but was not i simply didnt know anymore how to reattach it after some manipulations) and exchanging battery is see that it cannot hold time. Should i leave my PC on for some hours in order the capacitors are refreshed?
What can i do else? Thanks a lot

The exchanged one is new. maybe not working the way it should. i will observe and exchange again. what is the right procedure? no cmos-clear needed right? but default or optimal settings, right? i recognized that KB and mouse should be connected the normal way not via switch during this period.

We forgot cold soldering points. Most probably the reason why its now working. Did only test for some minutes without connection.
Have only found it out accidentally when i had destroyed the battery-contacts when trying the remove with a too thin screwdriver. When exchanging that i remembered having the same problem with an external-drive-enclose(data and hdd lost) and recently with a new usb/ps2-adapter for keyboard on a multiswitch.

It were the two soldering points of the battery-cage.
