    WAN optimization

    Anyone using WAN optimization devices?
    Looking at Riverbed but will cost $10k
    Is it worth it.
    Trying to run remote 3 user offices over vpn and its super slow.

    The device may or may not help you. You need to discover what traffic is being sent and what is causing your bottleneck. The optimization service may only help with certain traffic such a server shares (similar to Windows Branch Cache). If the bottleneck is you connection you may need more speed. If the bottle neck is your router you could need to upgrade that.

    I have seen a router get overwhelmed when a 1Gbps network was in use with a 16/5 cable connection. The router could not keep up with demand so the clients will dropping send rates (receive window) due to the volume of clients. Traffic shaping is what fixed that.

    The solution will completely depend on your network and what needs to be sent and received.

    Traffic Shaping

    So what are you using for your traffic shaping?

    BTW the end user is opening a large PDF doc via vpn . Changing it and saving it back to the network.
