MS Home Server 2011
Hey ya' All,
I just purchased a ms home server 2011 64bit CD from newegg.......
I have older computers and need to know what hardware will work...
I only have one computer... 64bit windows7 i use for my basic computer.......
Can I use older stuff like a 533cpu computer for a home server?
Will i need a mobo with SATA because the the older ones only have IDE....
I don't have a bunch of money and I have used Apache software to play around with but never made a home server....Any Thoughts Are Appreciated......

Also any pc will do as long as it's 64 bit.
IDE would work - but if you looking long term - get a newer mobo with SATA drives.

thank you sir for the info.....
so i would have to get another copy of windows 7 64bit and set it up on a computer I build and then install the windows server 2011 ?

Home Server is it's own operating system and should be installed on a pc all by itself.

The machine that you install WHS11-64 on must have a 64bit capable CPU.

SATA is not required; IDE will be fine.
