    Repairing SATA-Drive

    Maybe i can revive a friends SATA-drive.
    Its a WD AAKS 500gb.
I have the same but i dont want to replace a possible defective chip-board by mine.
Would rather get a used one.
Is this a good idea or way to find out if its the electronics?
    HDD is not recognized

I already cleaned the contacts. I wonder if newer PATA have the same simple electronics to replace.

What is the first part of the story?
Meaning, what steps did you take to determine that the electronics on the drive are bad?

Should i first try out the electronics of the "bad" drive on the working one? Opr better take no risks and do it the other way round?

Better check working electronics on the bad drive first or vice versa?

Since yesterday-despite removing and allowing cookies, login with old name is not working anymore-for the first time.

clicking on some threads title(e.g. feedback...) is resulting in an error.
