transfer OE to Outlook 2010 64 bit

Need to transfer emails and contacts from Outlook Express on a system running XP Pro SP3 - to - Outlook 2010 64 bit on a Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit system. Both machines are on the same network.
I copied the Identity Files for outlook express to the Win 7 machine but Outlook 2010 doesn't recognize them when I try to import. I've have also installed Windows Live Mail on the XP machine and that software did successfully import from Outlook Express. So I could also copy files from Windows Live Mail over to the Win 7 Outlook 2010 machine if that is a viable option.
Advice on whether this can successfully be done (and if so, how) is appreciated.

Thanks Midknyte - I hadn't seen that first link. I won't be able to attempt this again until next Tuesday. According to what I've found so far there is an issue transferring from OE or Live Mail to Outlook 2010 64 bit version.
I'll post how it turns out but it will be next week.
