    Trouble with IE and certificates

Boy..! I m a bit exasperated here. To update my last two days status..., I got this new video card and ws happy as punch ( still am ) about that but today all day i am getting certificate errors like crazy when i open the browser. This may have started when i installed the 'Google Toolbar' as i always do, but not sure.

First i get the info bar that no matter what i set in Intenet options, nd popup blocker, it still pops up every single time for anything. Now, i uninstalled the toolbar just awhile ago and just used the google icon in my favorites bar, and i opened IE after setting Google to my homepage and none of the above thus far. No cert. errors, but i've only got to here so far.

Seems every time i install IE8 , I get this. In the wide wide world of sports, can't we just open a browser and have it work? it worked fine before all my issues i had this pst week with old VC and some other. I know that is not related to this issue.

Info bar example; i go into info for that and do waht they said to set and uncheck to no avail. We'll see on that issue but still I want to know how or hwat to set so it NEVER ever pops up. For petes sake the more MS or whomever keeps adding all these extra accelerators, and this and that the worse and worse it is. Whats the point there? Certainly not improved browsing. I spent more time with that then getting on with it.

Just like cable. Upped the speed over the years and now its actually slower due to all these added features, security and who knows what not.

I'll use this post for my other issue also; I tried to install the latest Firefox 9.0 , which apparently has gotten all these rave reviews, and find it autos to the link i abhor, which is 'Yahoo', and still i beleive that is like a virus in ones system. I know form past experience and do not trust them a bit.
The older versions i had zero issues with. I could uninstall yahoo in my 'add/remove' control panel. Now its all incorporated, and googling i find dozens of links for this very issue i am writing about, so i'm not nuts or off base here. Why are they associated with Yahoo anyway?

Google is normally fine but the main link to download the toolbar i used and three times i get the typ. white page with connection issues etc.. I load the button link for Google and it works fine. Just set it for jmy home page. maybe that will work.

One last issue is we know it sthe end of year, and wonder if cert. errors are the norm and if anybody else has had this or all the other issues i outlined. I am all up to date with MS updates. That helped alot.. NOT!

Persistence is the key obviously. I have years of exp. I'm sorry i wrote some of that as I just solved the certificate thing. Was trying to obtain answers at the MS issues page they have, clicked on IE 8 and was looking over one main solution and somewhere i remembered the very same thing happening last year.

It turns out that the clue is the DATE. haa haa! I looked at my date which has been staring me in the face on desktop bar ( bottom right ) and time ws wrong and mainly the date was set for like 2009 with wrong time. How did that happen i wonder. Anyways, I set it for correct time and date and no more errors in IE 8 or hotmail.

Now I'll see if Firefox opens without the same or similar. Thanks for anyone reading who had to read the above. I'm smart but you know how OS's can be a real pain at times. nothings perfect.

Still trying to figure out how the time and date got that way. Happy Holidays all

That happens once is while, not often but is maddening when it does.
Usually caused by the internet time synch not working right.
I am using time-a.nist.gov for the internet time check.

Train, i'll try and remember that for my own use if i can.

Please read: I'll just write a reply here and hope you will respond, or i will PM you tomorrow sometime. Not much you can do but listen, but if you or anyone can believe this.., last night i was riding high, in a very good mood and all, playing some game i have later at night around 11:30PM, when suddenly my whole computer just up and died. You can imagine how i felt. First off, it takes all my energy just trying ot stay positive the rest of the year where i live, then that first issue gets resolved, happy camper, then my life takes yet another dive like this. Now for sure I do not have the money to fix it, at least not until after the first of January.

Today i am just hanging on. I am very depressed. Either the man upstairs hates me or its my karma kicking into full gear. I had been overly compassionate and nice to everyone the past few days. one of the positives though is i can at least get some clues or answers from a nice Mod. or person as yourself. Thanks for listening and being there. You have been more then a great help. I need it. Not one person near me or use of phone do i have. ( I do have phone service now though ). if i cannot solve it, I am trully up a creek. I did however earlier today got ahold of one of my main guys who know me at 'ENU', the one around 122nd off Sandy Blvd. he was nice and 'YES', i can bring in my rig and he will find out just what the issue is. Most likely my Motherboard. if not then it has to be the processor (???)
last night upon checking everything and ree-seating or installing soem HW, I also found that my CPU and also the heatsink were 'DRY', meaning no thermal grease at all. I originally put enough on like over nine onths ago or so. I guess it evaporated. I since re-greased ut all back together but nodda. Dead as a doornail. re-connnected power pin to motherboard and same. i guess it could be the CPU since i found it dry but tomorrow or early next week i will find out for sure at ENU. ( sister has to take me there ) Oh my! i love living here and winter.

See what ENU has to say. Sure hope it was not the power supply that went and took everything with it.

And people wonder why I have so many computers.

Train, Well a couple of days ago I got my sister to drive me and my rig to ENU, whereas i pre setup a tech. support with a guy i knew there who went through a very thorough examination of all, and finally i we got waht part(s) were not working right ,caput, or i need to replace.

Turns out the motherboard would not post with any video card as of then, and my CPU, Memory, PSU, and especially the video card itself.

Motherboard is bad. Video card on 3 seperqarte rigs he cchecked it on would not post. Bad card now. We think the motherbaord probably shorted the VC out and the PCIE somewhow got damaged or similar.

Motherbaord has 3 year warranty so i'm covered there. I can also RMA the video card, so in the end I might come out of this smelling like a rose,so to speak. Lets hope so. I am using Library comuter today and credit unions tomorow on likely.

Thanks big T for the comm. and encouragements. Rog
