Ram for Athlon XP-M 3000+
Which Ram-type can be used on this laptop:
hp pavilion zv5000.
its has amd athlon xp-m 3000+(1600mhz) dublin-prozessor.
it has only 512mb(2x 256mb) ram
2gb(4x512 or 2x1gb pc3200 is the max.
Can i really use my memory used in my desktop? I thought laptops have special memory. SO- ......
btw: hhd is only 60gb.
uuuuh another update needed. let alone a new windows. Windows 7?

Laptop ram is a lot shorter than desktop ram, so it will not fit.
Memory Type: DDR PC2700, DDR (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 2GB
Slots: 2
Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

It seems 256mb is built in. I can only see one slot holding 256 mb
pc 2700S-25300
256ddr 333 cl 2.5
hynix china
so i can only replace it by 1gb, having 1256 in total.
replacing 40mb hdd
Is using windows 7 suitable? maybe laptop is too old-from 2004.

Specs say you have 2 slots and each slot will take 1 GB.
When you remove that 256 chip, you should fine the other slot. Normally it is under the one with the ram chip in it.

It is strange but true. The neutral booklet seems to be true for a two-slot-hp pavilion-laptop.
since i can only mount one chip(1 gb max.) with the built in 256mb i will get 1256mb max.
