Hooya!
Repair install or not?
At odds on what to do here. For some time, i'd say like the past week or so, i 've been having issues with my overall operation of my computer refreshing and bootup loading items. This is only the first thing. Normally i know it takes so long.., but when this whole thing started, something somewhere is not loading fast enough or as i suspect possibly my boot log is messed up and some other in my system. After bootup, it takes like 3 or four minutes tloo totally refresh, where all is accessable etc..
All my programs, games and whatnot works fine after that, other then my theme, desktop in 'Display Properties', which is haywiere or sorts, as it does not stick to current theme after setting what wallpaper i want and so forth.
Even my DVD burner shows as CD drive instead of DVD/CD like it should, and just awhile ago, i find my Nero 9 was not installed correctly or had an issue with uninstalling it..., of which i had to use 'Revo' and manually delete ,along with a registry program clean up program to erase traces of.
No question i am going to have to do a 'repair install' , but first i have to move alot of files around to my other drive due to losing all of my program files, pics.,Music, and some stored 'Documents and settings items. What a pain.
I also would have to totally reinstall all updates, and .net items, and such along with SP3. More or less an all night affair to get back to normal I'd imagine.
My question or inquiry is .., is there any other thing other then a virus check, which i've done already , that would fix al this??
Will do the Repair Install in the next two hours regardless, so i'm hoping someone, moderator will repond before then.

You should run a repair install with a slipstreamed disc of the same SP level. IE, if you have SP3, then use an XP SP3 disc.
Still a repair install may not fix your issues. Did you look at event viewer?
As for your other video issue, uninstall and reinstall the latest compatible driver set from the Nvidia site. Don't use betas.
What happened to your backups? I thought you were using TrueImage by now.

No... TrueImage i'm afraid. Same o me. I've already moved all i wanted to the other drive. I think it would fix my issues though due to bootup suspect logs, and desktop settings..etc.. those are the main issues. None other issues in general with running apps. ,games and or other programs.
if and whn i decide to do this.. and find it worked out, then for sure i will do a TrueImage after that. How much space and how long does that take?

That varies depending on how much data you are backing up.

Sorry i am late in replying... but i got it fixed. Turns out some of my system files were corrupt.
I ran Chkdsk and then it ran on bootup and fixed all issues... works great again. LOL
