Updated MalwareBytes to latest version, but still prompts to install lastest version

I updated MalwareBytes successfully on this system, closed it, and then when I reopened it, I get this message:

"The latest version of malwarebytes' anti-malware has been downloaded. Malwarebytes' Anti-malware will now close and install the latest version."

The thing is, the latest version is already installed. Just ran a quick scan with it and it did not find anything.

Any ideas how to get rid of this message that comes up every time MalwareBytes is opened?

If you let it sit for a few minutes does it do anything?

Have you rebooted since you installed?

Shut down, wait a minute and boot back up, if the reboot does not work.

Uninstall it with Revo, and clean out your temp files with CCleaner or something like it.

We both rebooted, and shut down and restarted, both to no avail. We even tried it a few days later, but it still does the same thing. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling...same thing.

Ol'Tunzafun, thanks. That's worth a shot. I assume the free version of Revo will suffice?

You didn't verify that you had followed this advice. You should use CCleaner to clear out temp files.

I just went throught this on an office pc... Pretty sure the first update was a program update.. After the reboot it installed newer definition files.

Very common for that to happen with that program.
