how to remove or shut off ms mesenger?

is it possible to turn off or remove ms messenger.
i have a co-worker that uses yahoo but every time he sparks up his laptop ms mesenger wants to connect, he dosent use that app and would like to remove or shut it down.

Disable it in msconfig.

thanks train,as soon as you mentioned msconfig it all came back to me.

either my freinds are getting more computer savy or their making computers easier to use because I dont seem to do too much tinkerin on freind or family computers . I seem to be forget what little i did know.

Microsoft has set the later OS's so folks can not shot themselves in the foot like they could in 98.

Plus the OS's are much more stable from the start.
