    cursor autoselects stuff

I have a new laptop with Win7 on it and the cursor keeps autoselecting stuff if it is left hovering over something. VERY annoying. It logs off apps if it happens to land on the X, it navigates to web pages if it lands on the wrong spot on a web page. How can I stlop it from autoselecting and get it so select only when I click?

Check the touchpad/mouse software. There may be a click on hover option.

Check Accessories > Ease of Access too.

Some people set up single-click access in Folder Options too. That is a disaster when using a glidepad because lifting the finger from the glidepad for even a microsecond gets translated as a click. Look in Control Panel > Folder Options.
