    How to convert Quicken Files?

I have friend who puter went down and he bought New Puter with Quicken 2009 on it.

He had 2 files saved to Floppy that are from Older Quicken File and the New Quicken Home and Business program will not open.

How do you convert these 2 files (Q3.DIR & QDATA.QB2) so they will be readable?

He does not have access to older Quicken Program.

    Thanks in advance,
    Will

I would contact Quicken support if I were sitting in your chair.

When they upgrade to new versions - most of the time new data fields are added to the database....Your older db's need to be upgraded...And odds are their support can help you with that.

First it helps to know exactly which old version of Quicken you had.
Second .QB1 & .QB2 are Quicken Backup files and are not openable directly.
You need to open the current version of Quicken and Restore the files before
you can work with them. See below and try to find the actual data file.

Quicken names the data file Qdata by default, but you can save a Quicken file as any name you wish. Usually, Quicken data files are found under C:/Program Files/Quicken/Data, and when you open Quicken, it automatically uses the last data file used.

Quicken data files can have any of these extensions:

.QDF, .QEL, .QPH, and .QSD file extensions. Files with these extensions are Quicken data files

Well, don't have the older version program anymore. If you try to open with current Quicken Program, it does not recognize these files. I guess my only recourse is to find an older version and install it on new computer and see if they will open then.

Wether you have the old or not is not the issue. Telling us what Version it was (2002, 2001 etc) may help in finding conversion information. Can you still find all the old Data Files ? ?
See the info above as to where they should be on the computer drive.
