Diabetic Software
The time has come for my wife to have a software program so she can better keep track of her diabetic condition.
She uses a LifeScan OneTouch UltraSmart II meter, and they sell a program to go along with it. It's called Diabetes Pilot. Since I'll be investing in some software, I'm wondering whether Diabetes Pilot is the best I can do. Is there a better program out there? Or is the program meter specific? Does the meter determine which program I must use, limit me to a single program?
Diabetes Pilot does include a "special" cable so that I can download data from the meter to the computer. That is a distinct advantage, and might be a limiting factor.
Does anyone on the forum have experience in this area?

They do have a trial version per http://www.diabetespilot.com/support
I google for errors for it and found nothing.

As nearly as I can tell, the program listed above is the only one which will accept a direct download from the blood meter. That's an important plus, the direct download.
On the other hand, I have found a good program, for general health as well as diabetes specifically, with the only downside being that it requires manual input. Manually inputting all my wife's needlesticks would be a pain. However, I use it for myself, transcribing data from my quarterly blood tests. I find it pretty comprehensive, and particularly appreciate the graphs which will show trending.
