    Chkdsk is running at startup

all the time chkdsk is running at startup and finds defective partitions. D, E etc. not windows-partition C.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831426
first two methods on instruction kb831426 did not help.
remains installation of recovery console from win xp cd-rom and running chkdsk.
i have never installed recovery console. should i give it a try? do i have to fear anything. btw: its on winxp-sp3- sata-drive. do i have to install a driver too? thanks a lot.

Sorry i forgot to mention that i have googled and found that wonderful tweak-site and the regfile in pt. 82. didnt help.

Also running chkntfs /d from command prompt didnt help.
    system-recovery may 18, no help.

Checked task scheduler, autostart, nothing there.

    Maybe running trinity rescue kit?
Didnt use this drive on pc1 for quite a long time. all updates done.

In that case, you should run the manufacturer's diagnostics first.

    Solved

Sorry for delay, I coudnt login permentantlym, was kicked out just afterwards. my pc seems to be hacked, or a provider-problem. they just started making changes when the problem occured 30 hours ago. New Account and all other recipies didnt help. Will open a new thread. I am surfing with cyberghost(anonymously).

I have found the solution to get rid of the permanent chdsk-running at startup.
here is the german description-check also sublinks. mybe someone could post the english equivalent.
    http://www.windows-tweaks.info/html/chkdsk.html

It is solved except for one partition. there defrag is telling me that there is not sufficient space to defrag. will free it and check again.

    Chances of inconsistency

Some time ago, such problem faced by me, but after running the chkdsk /f, I think the problem solved.

There is chances of inconsistency with file system or volume, in such chases autocheck will be activated and scanned at booting time. first you reindex all files or use toos like system mechanic - where you can tweak everything in windows

And sometimes chkdsk /f /r is the answer.

I misunderstood the help. omitted /r.
now its working again. thankd you very much

Anyway starting up-desktop- was a bit slow. couldnt solve it except by reinstalling a 2 month old backup of system-partition.
