    wireless problem no signal

A wireless system was installed with an USB adapter for a second computer. Everything WAS working correctly. We swapped out the working #2 wireless computer with a newer one. Still ancient but newer than the P3. Both computers running XP PRo. To access the programs that were available only on the P3's original hard drive, we swapped hard drives. No cd's available. After adding the correct drivers, etc. all seemed well. Except now the computer refuses to detect a wireless signal. We installed the correct driver from D Link and the computer indicates the USB is active but it doesn't see the router. As a test, installed a Linksys wireless card. That too seems active but is unable to see any signal. The "Reliable" provider does not return calls so we are floundering for answers. The computer that is connected to the router works fine but we'd like to have the second one running also. Is there as soemthing in Windows that I need to correct?

Have you tried restarting both the modem and the router?

There isn't a modem, just the router which is probably a combo? The system installer connected the main computer to that router via ethernet. Is it possible that interference is occurring from within the second (non wireless now) pc?

I doubt it. Try unplugging the router for a minute or so. Anytime an electronic device malfunctions, that's always the first thing to try.
