    Exclamation "server not found"

Just another FNG here on a referral from a friend on a diesel truck site.

Lately I cannot get online ----keep getting "server not found" regardless of Firefox [my go to] or even IE that I care not to use.

Have run all my systems Malwarebytes, COMODO --my firewall and registry cleaner, Spybot and Trend Micro....they all come up clean??????????

80 percent of the time, I get the "server not found" and have to re-click or close out and double tap the desktop...it is turning into a crapshoot weather I get on.......even clicking on a forum topic from the same website is hit and miss.....

stats--Dell Dimension 3100--OS is XP and am on Embarq DSL

Any and all help is much appreciated as I am out at sea on a tug 28 days at a time and my wife relies on this......

Common "server not found" issues ..

Make sure you have the latest TrendMicro version , ex. TM Internet Security suite. , this also applies the other programs.

    Recheck all your firewall settings.

    HJT log looks clean.

I am assuming your using Comodo IS and no longer using TrendMicro , Spybot, AVG8 and McAfee or any other security app's at the moment. Keep in mind, you only want to run one realtime AV scanner and firewall at the same time or you'll have problems.

    Using HJT, fix these entries:

    O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgssie.dll (file missing)

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {CCC7A320-B3CA-4199-B1A6-9F516DD69829} - (no file)

    O4 - Global Startup: McAfee Security Scan.lnk = ?

I prefer AntiVir AV Free over Comodo's AV, but Comodo's Firewall and Defense+ are excellent . You can deselect the Comodo AV during the install . It's good to use Malwarebyte's and SAS as manual backup checks. This is the best free combo you can have , IMO.
BTW, MBAM newest version is at 1.41 .

Next, after checking if the problem is still occurring is to follow the DNS checks in the link I provided.

In HJT...how do I "fix" the issues you pointed out?

If you had posted at virtualdr using the link fink had posted the gmer problem can be worked around. Those folks know more about this business.

As for McAfee, if you uninstalled it, then you need to run the cleanup tool.

Have you tried resetting your router and/or modem? Sounds like your modem or router is crapping out. Contact your ISP and see about getting a new modem.

    Hope that helps.

Close all instances of any browsers running and any windows you have open. Open HJT, select "Scan", then place a check next to the entries you want to fix. Select "Fix checked".

Deleting the entries I've noted wont cause any harm, but those entries could be causing your problem. I don't think you need to run Gmer, a rootkit revealer. But, you may feel more comfortable posting all the requested logs at the sister site. Whatever you decide, don't post any logs here, it's not condoned in these forums, but VDr is setup for it.
Power Cycling your modem and/or router is a good idea also. Be sure to report back results of what you have tried so no one repeats themselves.
