    Win7 wmediaplayer12

Hi, I've recently installed win7 on both my laptop and desktop.
Desktop has the problem. Whenever I try to play a videoclip or avi file it freezes up eventually freezing computer. Using wmediaplayer12. My desktop has 6GB ram...I JUST JUST installed 2 sticks of 2gb's this week. Added to the 2 sticks of 1gb. 4 slots. I was not having this problem til installing them but who knows really.

Does anyone know what might be the problem. My computer is a gateway 1.83 mghrtz dual core....the graphics card is on board so its not great. I must replace soon.

    thanks

Take out the 2 original sticks of ram and see what happens.

Thinking the old and new might not be quite close enough in compatability.

You say you installed Win 7. Was it an upgrade? If so, were any codec packs installed before?

Since it is a new installation, it might be a good idea to simply reinstall Win 7 again.
