    My preferred method for backing up bookmarks in Firefox is to follow the path:

    Bookmarks--->Organize Bookmarks---(Highlight "All Bookmarks")--->Import and Backup--->Export HTML.

    This will produce an HTML document which can be copied, saved somewhere you might remember, or emailed.

    There may be easier ways to do this, but I've found that this works for me. This way I can keep a copy online, on my email server for instance, to retrieve wherever I might be.

    You just need to copy the places.sqlite file from your profiles folder.
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

    You can also use an addon like Xmarks.

    Greetz.

    I find mozbackup is a nice utility to backup your FF profile so that you can restore it onto another machine, or after a clean re-install yada yada
