    Freezing with certain web sites.

Ok everyone I am beyond stumped, my computer has the strangest problem I have ever run into and I cannot figure it out. When browsing the internet my computer will completely freeze and i have to power it off and back on. This problem seems to only happen on certain pages, ones that use a lot of flash in particular. I can make the problem repeat by going to bestbuy.com and looking at their weekly ad... I will freeze EVERY time i do that, tvguide.com it also happens at quite often. Aside from those pages my computer seems to be rock solid stable. I can benchmark with 3dmark, i can run prime95 for hours on torture test, I can play games, listen to music, watch movies it doesn't matter, just those few web pages make it freeze.
    My current system is:
    Biostar Tpowerx58 LGA 1366
    Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 130W
    6 gb Crucial DDR3 1066
    PNY Geforce 9800GT
    2x 74gb WD Raptors in Raid 0
    650 watt BFG psu
    Vista SP1 64 bit
I have exhausted just about everything I can think of to try to fix this. I have tried formatting (the problem happens with a fresh install with nothing installed yet except nic drivers) I tried installing without raid 0 on just each individual drive, tried 32 bit vista on each individual drive, tried the previous 5 nvidia driver sets for the graphics card. Now here is the real twist in the story, when I first had the problem I thought I ended up fixing it by installing JAVA, after installing java the problem seemed to go away, i didnt have a lockup for about a month, but then it started happening again. So I reinstalled java... and that fixed it again for about a week. So reinstalling java seems to be a temp fix every time, and it just makes absolutely no sense to me. If anyone has any ideas at all I am will to try it because I just do not get this. Thanks for any help in advance.

You didn't say which browser you are using. Did you try Firefox or Opera?

SP2 is out already. did you try that?

What version of Flash are you using? IE and non-IE browsers have separate installs.

I am currently using flash 10, and yeah I had the separate installer for each browser because when you go to the adobe page that what it gives you when you use each one. Currently downloading SP2 and will give that a try.

Did you try using Flash 9 instead?

Use Revo to uninstall Flash 10 and make sure to delete the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder also.

Flash is CPU-intensive. Make sure that you're not overheating. Reseat the CPU heatsink to be sure. Be sure that the GPU fan is working. Update the GPU drivers direct from nVidia.

does your computer freeze right away or when you move your mouse over the flash?

Bill, my cpu never gets over 40c, the comp can play games and benchmark for hours without a crash. I've tried the newest and some of the older nvidia drivers with no help.

Trader, it's kind of random, sometimes as soon as i go to like tvguide.com it will freeze, other times i will be looking at the listings and then it will freeze, same with bestbuy.com sometimes i will look at the ad and it will let me get partially through and then freeze and other times it will freeze instantly.

I just don't understand why installing java will fix it for a while, it seems rather strange to me.

Jakk where do I get flash 9? I cannot seem to find it for download, I would like to give that a shot to see if that helps.

You get them at the same place I already told you. When you click on either IE or non-IE, there is a small list on the right side that shows older versions.
