Flashdrive crashes iexplorer-win2k
the only used flashdrive- diskgo 2gb- crashes iexplorer on one of my win2k-drives.
removing, relocating to an other slot, cleaning the system, defragging flash and maindrive-systempartition did not help. is working on my second 120mb-hdd.
thank you very much

Does the jump drive work on another system?
When are you going to upgrade to XP? It has so many less issues than Win2k does.

Drives do not crash on other drives. They crash on operating systems. Besides, "iexplore" is a browser and drives do not crash browsers. Explorer is the Windows shell. Which one is crashing? If it's iexplore, you have a malware problem.

Once again, drives don't crash other drives. You are a bit crazy about storage, aren't you? With you, everything is about drives and partitions. I don't understand this obsession with storage that you seem to have. My advice is to leave formatting and partitions alone and just USE the PC.
Please upgrade to XP. Windows 2000 is now 10 years old. It's time.

While you're at it - when you have a question, please ask the question. I don't know about the rest of the people here, but when I read your posts it's like listening to my wife complain about something. She goes on and on, but never actually gets to the point.
Read your own post above. Nice symptoms. What's the problem? I stopped playing guessing games years ago when my kids grew up.
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

His main problem is that English is NOT his native language so his grammar and sentence structure is difficult for him to understand.

Oh, come on....Germans know how to ask questions. I know how to ask a question in German, even if it's only Sprechen-Sie deutsch?
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

Not all the people in that country speak German.
Been there.

On a side note, you should NEVER defrag your flash drives. All you'll do is shorten their lifespan.

Actually, I believe that he's from an area in Switzerland in which the native language is Romansch:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romansh
Unfortunately, *no one* speaks Romansch! He has a very limited pool of people that understand both PCs and his native language. It's really up to him to learn a language that is commonly used in technology. Guess what? That language is English. He deserves credit for taking it on. In Switzerland, the 4 official languages are German, French, Italian and Romansch. I'm sure that he knows a bit of each, but it's not easy for him to get tech advice that he can understand.
My primary frustration with him is that he's constantly fiddling with his hard drives instead of upgrading his RAM and just doing his graphics. My secondary frustration is that he refuses to upgrade to XP. Maybe he can't afford it on a day-to-day basis, but it's been 5 years already! If he saved a Swiss Franc a week over that time, he could have bought it ten times over by now. He needs to get a copy of Vista x64 and load up the RAM as much as he can afford.

As for all of the people slamming lgpop about what he said, must I remind you all of how frustrating it is dealing with EP? Most of you either avoid his questions or get it wrong because of the language barrier. If you can't help, then back off of lgpop. At least he's trying!
I'm sorry, but EP needs some tough love. He needs to bite the bullet and get a 64-bit OS and tons of RAM. He will never get Win2K to do what he needs - loading HUGE images. If he's serious about his graphics hobby, he has to stop fiddling with hard drives and his swap file and drop some serious cash for a hardware and software upgrade. End of story.

I totally agree that E's questions are difficult, that's why I avoid them most times.
I'm sorry, but I do not see anyone in this thread bashing lgpop.

nice answers- a lot to laugh at the end of a difficult day
all these analyzations saved my heavy day. i would like to be in romantsch. nice mountain country. at the other end of switzerland. too expensive to travel to. i have plans to shoot 3dstereopanoramas there.
bernese alps are nearer and i have no car. maybe i should quickly change my signature, so anybody could enjoy those innovative views.
i am living in the three-country corner of germany, france and switzerland. i can go there with bycicle within 5 to 15 min. but, i understand english much better than french, due to reading american photographic magazines. but thats 15 and more year back.
i can better understand than writing. sometimes its lack of time to reflect.
the main problem is when its too technical. i am no pc-pro, thats why i am much impressed from time to time when i see the wisdom of those who are. lets laugh a little bit more in this time of those financial schizophreniacs or schizophrens? schizophrenoids. if one or the other expression does not yet exist, its about time to invent them....
i hope i can shoot some nice 3dstereo-photos at artbasel these days and post a link somewhere here. have a nice evening.
