    OE time incorrect

I'm using Win 2k & OE. I have reset my Win 2k time by right clicking on the time icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen. The time is correct. When I send and retrieve messages, OE attaches 1 hour back, so if the time is 12:23, it marks the message as 11:23. I also tried checking the DST box to no avail. I have gone to Control Panel and looked at the icon Date/Time and Regional Settings to see if everything is correct. I've also looked OE to see if there is a time setting there and could not find one. What's up now?

Do you have Windows Time service enabled? Did you run Windows Updates to see if there are any for DST?

What is Windows Time service enabled and how do I find it? I have all the latest updates for Win2k, specifically upgrade 4, it's been a while, but I'll check. I don't think they are supporting Win2k anymore.

run services.msc - Windows Time. Instead of Automatic or Manual, set it to disabled.

Daylight Savings Time began starting earlier last spring. There is a patch for this issue at Windows Update. Windows Update still works for Windows 2000.

Please go to Windows Update. Choose Custom and get all pertinent updates - Critical, "Windows" and Hardware. Look in the left frame of the page.

M$ extended support for all 9x Windows versions ended July 2006 if I remember right. At that time 2000 entered its extended support phase which ends in 2011.
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

I saw that an assumed you ran Windows Update. Could you at least try to follow my advice before you blow it off?

The file in the attachment will correct your Windows 2000 for DST
It is a file that it says is for XP but will work on Windows 2000
MS did not make it available to Windows 2000 users

I found that link as well, but that site is very hard to navigate and determine exactly which file to download
and where it is located to download.

    True.

All you need is the "Network Administrator" download. The DST fix is built into it.

This did not work on my system. I'm running W2K sp4. I attempted installation, and received a popup telling me that my OS does not match the patch, leaving me no option but to quit. Guess I'll live with the problem until my system's scheduled DST change.

Try renaming the file to just KB931836
and then see if it installs

Isn't the time stamp on mails set by the ISP?

I have the same OS and the same problem with time on my e-mails.

    Never found a remedy either.

I think Steve is right about the ISP thing.
