Exclamation Outlook Freezing when adding attachement

Using Outlook 2003 on a windows XP sp3 machine with internet explorer 8.0 beta. Running on a HP Workstation, with intel(R) cor 2 duo cpu e8300 @ 2.83GHz 1.98GHz and 4G of Ram.

The issue that I am having is that when you try to reply to a message or create a new message and try to add an attachment, that window freezes. It's as if it is unable to find the attachment. Just spins its wheels. Will greatly appreciate any assistance you may render. Thanks in advance.

1.) What anti-virus and anti-spyware are you running?

2.) Why are you running IE8 beta on your production system?

3.) Have you ever been able to add attachemnts before? What changed?

There are a couple of things you can try. When it freezes, see if you can get to Microsoft Office Tools on the Start menu and find Microsoft Office Application Recovery. It will attempt a recovery and make a report to MS, which may return a solution.
The other thing that you might try first is to click Detect and Repair in the Help menu.
    Is it updated to SP3?
