Counts RAM 3 times at bootup
I'm running and MSI MS-6163 with Celeron 466. At bootup when checking my ram it counts it three times, and it also seems to be slower than normal. I know I can hit escape to skip it, but it's annoying. I can't find any bios updates for the main board on the net anywhere. Can anyone help me out?

Phat, when I built my box I ran into the same problem. All i did was move my dimms from one slot to another. Do you have an open slot? if so, try and move one or both dimms to a diffrent slot and see if that helps. It stopped mine from doing what yours is doing. later.. also, make sure they are seated all the way when you move them.

I answered this with a possible solution in the motherboards forum.. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum5/HTML/002098.html
Just to save you from future earbeatings please dont post the same problem in multiple forums as it gets hard for us to follow the thread and can be confusing to keep a track on any help you may recieve that may help others also....

There's a term for this feature -
it's called "normal" default setting for most AWARD bios chips -
You need to get into the CMOS settings and adjust this - might be in the CMOS chipset setting area depending on the version of the BIOS you have.
DO NOT flash your bios for this. You are putting a lot at risk to get rid of something you should be able to configure in the CMOS settings.
