    Dialup : emailing large files

Considering my current frustration, I'll keep this short.

    Dell Dimension 2400 , XP SP2 , Outlook Express 6, all updates , 56k dialup connection
    Spysweeper and Avast running.

Problem is sending email w/ attachments 1mb or larger.
Sending mail w/ attachment ( plain or zipped)) errors out - SMTP server not responding after 300sec.
If I set messages to be broken apart 60kb , then the email fails due to incorrect header.
If I try testing too many times the ISP appears to lock the user/pass from connecting to the network. Meaning I have to wait till the next day to try tshooting again. A call to Tech Support is more frustrating .

Sending a file under 60kb works fine.

Its been awhile since I have had to deal with a dialup problem . Any help is welcomed .

update : I setup the account on different pc using OE6 and its works fine . So, the issue is local , not the isp or the account settings.

Check the phone line for noise. Hook up a receiver, dial 1 and just listen.

Since this is my phone line and cord, not the clients, I didn't trust it at all. So, I checked the line before I tested with another pc. I used the same line connections for both pc's. The problem is with Windows or OE6 it appears. Alas, it looks as if I will have to run the repair gambits.
