been out of the game a while, is this system ok?

ok guys ive been out of the game quite some time and still fighting on with my AMD XP 2400+ overclocked to 2200mhz (has been now for almost 3 years solid, it's a beast!) 2x256meg Corsair TwinX DDR ram and ATI 9600XT (thats pretty much given up the ghost)

i need a new pc cause video card fails when i give it even the simplest of games and Unreal Tournament 2007 should be out soon so i need a new PC for that and other games of course..

    AMD 6000+ AM2
MSI K9N SLi Platinum nForce 570
nVidia 8600GTS (will get a second one a few weeks later)
Seagate 320 gig (16 meg cache) HDD
    Corsair TwinX 2x1 gig (2 gig) DDR2 800mhz
Samsung 19 or 20 inch LCD monitor

    im guessing thats all compatible?

any thoughts or suggestions? i know Intel are better at the moment but god i love AMD

Looks like a good plan to me. The 6000 is no slouch, and the 8600 will provide DX10 capability.

Your other alternative - postponing the inevitable, really - would be to put an nVidia 7850 or 7950 in your current system and soldier on for a while longer. With new components being so reasonable, though, why bother?
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

Do both, and use the older one for a file server.

Yeah good idea. Save all your porn there maybe and lock it up, heehee. Jk.
