System noisy when on line
Hi
I have a problem with my computer, when I am using it with out being on line it is fine, but as soon as I go on line there seems to be a very pitch noise coming from the tower, I am not to sure if it is the PSU or some thing to do with the modem connection on the MOBO.
Please can some help me
Regards

Ok, a bit of info on your system would be more helpful.
However, going by what you've said, do you have dial-up? If so, it's possible you are hearing the modem noises. In many cases you can go to the properties of the modem and adjust the volume or even eliminate the sound alltogether.

Hi,
No I am on Broadband, running XP Pro. This is a very high pitch noise not the same as a dial up noise. I am not to sure but I think it could be mechanical. I put a stress test on the hard drive but this passed. I also checked the fans when running all seems OK. The PSU seems to be working fine too.

Mod w/ an attitude
Leave the case open and check it while you are online. Touch each part with a finger and see if the noise changes.

Had this same situation a few weeks ago with a clients PC. Turned out to be the onboard NIC. Disabled it in the BIOS, installed a new PCI network card and all was well. Don't know if that is your problem as well though?
Good luck.

Hi
Sorry to you all for being late back on this one, But at last I have found the problem, it's my hard drive. It is making a machanical noise now direct from the drive. I have a new one on order.
Thanks Again to you all
