dual booting with vista
i had an xp installation in drive c,which is the primary partition and another xp in drive d............i installed vista in the c drive after formating....now i cant boot to my xp in d drive....there is no option of booting to previous version as i hav seen with my friends...please help

you're supposed to load xp on the first partition, then vista on the second partition

you can try a repair install of xp on the second partition but I won't promise that vista will work after that

You wrote over the boot.ini file and the boot menu when you installed Vista.

The boot manager I mentioned may still be able to salvage the situation. WinXp and Vista use different boot managers natively. They can often be sorted with VistaBootPro and you may even be able to edit the default boot menu to enable selecting the one that's missing.
