    Extremely annoying Win XP error

Hi, I've been having this problem recently that's driving me crazy now. It's an error box that displays my computer info like processor type, motherboard type, etc and then a few lines down it will say "Application Data" and then have an extrememly long string of random letters. If I push the OK button to close the error, another one pops up and so on. When this error comes up, it locks all of the functions on my computer until I close the box, and there is like a slight 1 second delay between the error boxes. They only come up when I browse folders occasionally. I don't know how helpful this description of the problem was to identify it, but I will post a screenshot of what it looks like, the next time it happens.

    Thanks

Try clearing out your Temporary Files
and see if that still happens

    C:\Windows\Temp

    C:\Windows\Prefetch

    C:\Docs and Settings\your account\Local Settings\Temp

Anything in these folders can be deleted safely.

    Hello and welcome DarksideXD.

    Try this:

    Start
    Run

    And type this command:

    regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll

If that fixes the problem, then it's an Explorer bug with the media thumbnail preview. There's probably another fix (soft updt, registry) without having to disable thumbnail preview. Others here might be able to point you in the right direction.

If you ever want to re-activate it, Start > Run > regsvr32 shmedia.dll

Thanks for the responses. I first tried just deleting my temp files, so I'll see how that works out. If I still get the bug, i'll try putting that command to disable thumbnail previews. It's very likely that it is that explorer bug though, because I have thumbnail preview enabled in all of my folders besides like My Computer, where i never get the error.
