    XP OEM Reinstall

An associate's computer has become so virus laden it is virtually impossible to clean. It is unbearably SLOOOOW. He wants to reformat and reinstall XP Pro SP2. He has misplaced his OEM version CD. I was able to install and run Belarc Advisor to reveal the Key Code for his OS. Question: Can I use my OEM version of XP Pro SP2 and use his Key when promted during setup?

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on WHICH OEM your CD is and which one he needs.

I guess we'll give it a try. It is a system that some guy built for him a couple of years ago. Not sure as to which OEM version it is. If it doesn't work I suppose he'll be buying another CD. I recall trying this about a year ago on another system and it did not work. Got nothing to lose at this point. Thanks for your reply.

Update: That didn't work. Looks like it's time to open his wallet.
